SEC Centre (previously known as the SECC) offers five interconnected exhibition halls and meeting rooms with a combined area of over 22,000sqm. It is located in the west-end of Glasgow, just outside the city centre and is accessible by numerous transport links.

Getting There

Airport

The nearest airport to the SEC is Glasgow International Airport. Also nearby is Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow Prestwick Airport, both of which have good motorway and public transport connections to Glasgow.

Glasgow International Airport

  • Take the 500 Airport Express bus service from the Airport Terminal into Glasgow and transfer at Waterloo Lane to Glasgow Central St. to complete the journey via rail.

  • An alternate route is to take the 757 bus into Paisley and transfer at Central Road to Paisley Gilmour St. Station to complete the journey to Glasgow Central Station via rail.

  • Taxis are available to take you directly to the SEC costing around £30-£50

Glasgow Prestwick Airport

  • Prestwick Airport has a rail link to Glasgow Central St. at the airport.

Edinburgh Airport

  • Travelling to Glasgow via Edinburgh Airport can be done by taking the Edinburgh Tram to either Edinburgh Park Station, Haymarket Station or Edinburgh Waverly Station and transferring to rail services heading to Glasgow Queen Street Station.

Rail

SEC’s nearest train station is Exhibition Centre Station via the SEC Footbridge.

  • Glasgow is served by two train terminals, Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street.

  • Exhibition Centre has trains running to and from Partick St. & Glasgow Central St. low level platforms on a frequent basis.

  • Travellers arriving in Glasgow via Glasgow Queen Street Station should transfer to Glasgow Central St., or travel to Partick St. via Queen Street St.’s low level platforms to head to Exhibition Centre.

Subway

There is no direct access to the SEC via the subway, however it is possible to transfer at either Partick or St Enoch subway stations to complete the journey via Exhibition Centre.

Park & Ride facilities are available at Bridge St. Station & Kelvinbridge Station.

Car

The M8 Motorway is nearby to the SEC for those traveling via car.

Travellers can get to the SEC via the A814 by transferring on the M8 at Junction 18/19.

PLEASE NOTE: If you’re approaching junction 19 via the north there is ongoing roadworks, this section of motorway also tends to be very congested. Exiting at Junction 19 via the south is possible but will require navigation of Glasgow’s road grid.

Accessing the SEC via the M74 can be done by exiting the motorway at Junction 1 (not 1A) and crossing the Kingston bridge via the slipway on West St.

An alternate route to the SEC via the M8 is The Clyde Tunnel.

Exit the M8 at Junction 25 and transfer onto the A739 following signs for the Clyde Tunnel.

Once out of the tunnel take the exit onto the A814 and follow signs for the City Centre and the SEC/S.E.C.C.

Parking

The SEC has parking available at the Hydro Multi Storey Car Park (nicknamed the Cheese Grater), and on the west side of the convention centre. Charges apply for the use of these carparks.

Bus

  • Buses in the Glasgow area and intercity travel terminate at Buchanan Bus Station a short walk away from Queen Street Train Station/George Square.

  • SEC is directly serviced by bus route 100 Riversider via George Square.

Cycling

  • National Cycle Route 75 follows the Clyde river and past the SEC.

  • There is a Voi Parking Station situated beside the SEC Armadillo.

  • There is a bike Shelter to the side of the East Entrance.
